Why do we feel the need for safety meetings?
Safety meetings are a great reminder for everyone. It’s the best way for the safety department and management to share information of safety topics that you may tend to forget. Safety meetings can seem repetitive, but they are important to pay attention just in case any rules or regulations have changed recently. While being fully focused in a safety meeting, you could learn information you haven’t heard before, different ways to make you better at your current position or even the latest news in new equipment. These meetings should occur weekly or once a month depending on what your company feels is necessary. Meetings weekly should be no longer than 30 minutes and monthly meetings should not exceed longer than an hour.
Some examples of topics would include:
- Electrical hazards
- Equipment Installation
- Accidents before and after
- Hard Hats
These are just a few topics you could go over in your next safety meetings. Never be afraid to speak up about a topic that you feel is important, or even add on to another peer’s topic. There is nothing more rewarding than learning something new that may help you become more efficient in your career.
